Since last semester I did my own portfolio, I agreed with one of my best friends to make her a portfolio for her writing and to showcase her characters this time around.
We’ve been sort of planning this for a while but haven’t taken the leap just yet. Currently she’s getting together all of the fictional, non-fiction and essay pieces she wants to present on there, and we’ll have no problems working closely together on this.
Navigation:
Home (with a blog layout?)
Characters:
___this page will have links to different pages for each section of characters. Not all of her characters fit in different series or shorts, so for each series or separate short there will be a separate page for their information, characters will not get individual pages, the series will get their pages. These pages will also link to the works that they are in.
Featured:
___This will have different graphical links to Fiction, Nonfiction and Essays which will each have their own separate pages and then on those pages have links to the pieces she would like to showcase. (These are NOT links to word documents. We’d like viewers to read the shorts, or essays but NOT download them. I’d like to find a way to see if we can make it so you can’t right click or save the page to protect her works, but that’s probably much more advanced than this class will allow.)
About the Author (resume of sorts)
Text links at the bottom will be for each of the main sections, and to the sections in the featured works. Sitemap? Might be helpful. Breadcrumbs might also be a very helpful way to backtrack.
Not exactly sure on how I’m going to layout the general site, I want to stay on top of this and start early. Also need to figure out a brand that is professional but sort of the cartoony, fun style she likes so much as well as a general color scheme.
So far, she’s picking out what she wants to feature and is looking forward to the progress as well as brainstorming the exact content she wants. We’ve talked about the project many times and she fully understand the requirements for the class. Both of us are eager to start.
